Ludington Michigan Area Fishing Report

4-28-24 Ludington and Manistee streams.
The overnight rains helped improve water levels for this year's 2024 opener on West Mi type 1 streams. All the tributaries are fishing well, with live bait, spinners, and stick baits being the best options. Even with the rains most waters are still low, so the best is yet to come.
In the low water, fish are holding tight to cover. Look for undercut banks, log jams, over hanging brush, and rocky structure. With above average water temps for this time of year, fish are aggressive. Be sure to approach with great stealth.
I had a great opening morning using spawn sacs and stick baits.
As mentioned earlier, with more rain on its way, the trout fishing will only get better.
