Alpena Area Fishing Report

June 20th, 2019

Northeast Lower produces the most consistent catches of fish anywhere in the state!! From Aprils until October limits are common on a great mixed bag fishery.

ALPENA has been producing limits of Lake Trout, and also some King Salmon, Steelhead, and Atlantic Salmon mixed in. 50-60 feet of water seems to be producing the most action. Riggers, ,Divers, and Copper pulled behind planer boards seem to work equally well. Spoons have been taking almost all of our fish but flasher/dodgers with spin n glos will produce well for the Lake Trout.

Hubbard Lake remains good for walleye at and just after dark trolling the edges of the lake with cranks. 10-20 feet of water was producing best. Rapalas, Rougues, and reef runners in a variety of colors is a good start, then let the fish tell you what they want that particular night and start switching the spread out.
