Fishing out of the port of Manistee has been inconsistent with all the strong winds we have had on Lake Michigan. The best bite and most consistent bite has been offshore 400-600 feet of water. Offshore fishing is producing decent numbers juvenile King Salmon, Coho Salmon, and Steelhead. Fish were caught 70 to 100 feet down using spoons and flies. Dreamweaver super slim spoons and Moonshine spoons have been the ticket. When using flies behind Dreamweaver spin doctors KRW riverside flies have been the best.
A few Kings and Cohos have been caught on the shelf at first light. 80-110 feet of water 55-70 down.
The Big Manistee river has seen a good number of King Salmon with a few Steelhead showing up every day.
For king Salmon, throwing Crank baits and floating skein has been the key to producing good numbers of fish.
