Well I spent a few hours in the waters off Tawas this past Friday. To say the bite was good would be an understatement. Myself and friend Steve Vander Mark trolled and casted our way to 10 very nice walleye and a bonus Lake Trout. Here's how we did it. We trolled North from Point Lookout to Tawas. We had the best luck when our boat was in 28-30' We caught all our fish on metalic based Bandits. Greens & Purples, and Pink Lemonade was also very good. Our best sets were from 90-110' back behind our Off-Shore boards. 1.3-1.5 mph was our speed of choice. Steve and I also boated 4 nice fish casting Rippin Raps. In spite of the cold, the fish were very willing to bite a slow cadenced pumping action. The water is still cold and plenty of fish will be on this shoreline for several weeks. Have Fun!
