Western Upper Peninsula Area Fishing Report

August 6th, 2019

The U.P. is blessed with many lakes. At times it's fun to go explore new water.I rely on my Garmin Echomap graph and my Navionics on my phone to assist me in making a memorable trip. For walleye I like to start off with Berkeley Flicker Minnows and this lake went out to 25-30 ft.deep.I then went towards underwater points and sunken humps. When the depth would come up to 12 ft. I would then turn the boat and angle towards deep water. Doing this would run the lures up the ridge and into weeds or fish. Yes I had to check lines often but I caught and released 27in,25in walleye, also a 20in smallmouth. Brought home a 21in,20in and 16in walleye. So cleaning weeds was worth it. To me trolling is a quick way to explore and learn a new lake. Also you could have a fun day like I enjoyed.
