Western Upper Peninsula Area Fishing Report

February 23rd, 2021

2-21-21 Lake Gogebic
Well the bite on Lake Gogebic has definitely been solid for the last several weeks. Better than average size perch are being caught on the deep basin areas using tip ups and small blues or on rods tipped with wigglers. Super important to locate an area of the basin that’s holding good numbers of fish. These fish of been pegged pretty close to the bottom and it seems like they’re close to the main break at its deepest point. You will definitely have to move around until you locate fish, but when you do the bite has been solid. Just as a reminder, it is very important to note that lake Gogebic has a 25 perch limit as well as a Daily limit for larger fish. You may only have five fish that touch 12 inches as part of your bag. All other fish in your limit must be under 12 inches. I’m only mentioning this because not everyone realizes this and the tickets and fines for violating this are hefty. Have fun and remember on Gogebic, March is usually the best. Tim at Timbers resort has a bait store that is fully stocked and has wigglers so make sure you get with Tim for your bait and tackle needs and also check out to see if they have any cabins available.
