Open water fishing has started early Western U.P. by going out of the newly renovated Saxon Harbor Wi. Which is on the Michigan boundary water of Lake Superior. Coho are very active from next to shore out to 40 ft. A variety of shallow running stick baits will work. As the water starts to warm up so will the action. Browns, rainbows, lake trout and even a possible king salmon could surprise you. If purchasing a Wisconsin license be sure to check regulations because they do differ from Michigan. Black River Harbor boat launch in Michigan is still closed but the Harbor and break wall offer excellent opportunity for these shore running fish. If planning a trip this way do look for Southern winds, its big water and anything Northern can be trouble. Enjoy the outdoors!
