It has been an extremely good week for fishing. The weather is feeling a lot more like Summer and the water temperature is finally on the rise and making the Bluegills, Sunfish and both Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass move in to shallower water to spawn.
The Bluegill and Sunfish have been easy to catch. As basic as can be with just a worm under a bobber has been doing the trick. Using small black flies and crickets is another good way to put fish in the bucket. This is a great time to get young kids into fishing, theres enough action to keep them busy and interested and the fish are really agressive right now.
Bass fishing has really turned on this week. Many are being caught by accident by Bluegill anglers as well. Those that are targeting bass have been using Wacky worms, Senko’s, Jigs, Spinner baits and Swim baits. But the live bait crowd fishing for panfish using parts of a crawler or leach have been doing just as well.
Walleye fishing has been slowly changing. Earlier in the season most of the fish were being caught in shallower water, but now that it is warming up they’ve been making their way deeper. Fishermen are still getting some on Crankbaits but now most of them are coming from trolling Crawler Harnesses or using leaches under a slip bobber.
This has been one of the busiest weeks for our Free Fishing Contest ever, lots of fish have been entered.
