Anglers were out in full force. With the cooler temperatures and rain last week, local rivers saw a great push of salmon. A good number of coho along with some steelhead and brown trout were picked up in the Carp and Chocolay Rivers. Chinook and coho were caught in the Dead River also. More rain should bring more salmon into all of these systems. The best presentations for these systems and fish have been Skein under a float, spawn, or using beads.
Good numbers of coho salmon, steelhead, brown trout, lake trout and even Chinook salmon are still being caught in good numbers on Lake Superior near the river mouths and between the White Rocks. Those trolling on the big water had the best results using Dreamweaver spoons and Moonshine spoons. The best speed was 2.3-2.5 mph. Leadcores and dipsy divers gave the most action in the shallower water. 30-60 feet of water was producing the best number of fish.
