Well the new open water season is now in full swing up on Burt Lake in Indian River! The walleye opener was a mixed results situation. Many locals experienced fair to good results on the walleye over the first 10 days of the season. The weather gave everyone fits, but now just today seems to be finally settling into somewhat of a more normal warming pattern. Jigs and minnows as well as soft plastics ruled the early season walleye bite. We're getting a few reports of smallmouth just beginning to show up in the shallow spawning areas and on the first breaks. Please remember to quickly release the bass as they are going into the bedding and fry protection mode. We'll get some pics as soon as our guys send us some.
