5-22-25 Houghton Lake
Over the last week, I have received several reports that the big Crappie and bluegill are beginning to move to the shallows on Houghton Lake. One of my friends caught these two nice catches on two separate days last weekend. Whether the fish move into the shallows, or newly emerging weeds, or into some of the canals either way these fish Are excellent eating but also can be taken advantage of. Just be mindful of how many you keep if we want Houghton Lake to remain a premier panfish destination for years to come. Fish were biting well on minnows below bobbers and also casting small, colorful, plastics and slowly retrieving them. Lyman's on the lake has all of your bait and tackle needs. There's tons of small resorts all around the lake that could definitely use your business if you plan on coming up for a night or two. Either way enjoy the lake and practice selective harvest.
