Alpena Area Fishing Report

7-2-24 Alpena area
Mixed bag is in full swing here in northeast lower Michigan. Atlantic Salmon, Steelhead, Coho Salmon, King Salmon, Walleye, Pink Salmon, and tons of Lake Trout have been showing up in the catches recently. One groups landed 6 different species which is an incredibly memorable trip. When the weather permits the fish has been outstanding. Yesterday they wanted Lake Trout and we boated 22 fish in under 3 hours. I couldn't keep the lines in the water literally. Captain Ayvery has been filling coolers and topping my catches with some very impressive silver.

Sets have been 50-125-200 Morgan's 45 pound super coppers and magnum Gator XL boards. High Dreamweaver 107 divers 100-175' back and low 124 mag divers 125-175' back. Riggers at or below the thermocline which has been typically around 60-100 down.

Dreamweaver super slims in bright colors such as Steelie Cane, Rasta Goose, and even Super bread have done all the work on coppers and divers. Dreamweaver spin doctor with spin n glo has been wrecking the Trout. Magnum Glow spoons are great both early and late in the day for Kings.
