Muskegon County Area Fishing Report

Well I began to fish Muskegon and White Lakes this past week. Fishing I would say is fair to good. I ran (2) 4 hour afternoon trips and we had very steady action pulling crawlers with Death Roll hooks with billet weights near weed edges. Very few off species fish being caught. Best depths have been 6-10 FOW pulling baits just above or along the weeds at 1.0-1.3mph. I’m running light tackle long lining behind the boat without planer boards. Reason being is it is way more efficient and you need to constantly tend to your baits. Bottom bouncers have also been good but go light. 1oz. Or less and keep the weeds free of your baits. Any night time you can catch 4-8 walleye in 4 hours is a great night on the west side. The fish have been very active and good size ranging from 18-25” on average. Water temps are 67-68 degrees.
