Muskegon County Area Fishing Report

January 26th, 2022

Fishing report for Croton in Newaygo Michigan. Guest reporter Chris Brandt had some awesome action with his boys today! Pike and walleye on tippups 3 to 4 feet down in 8 to 10 feet of water. Smaller presentations seem to be working great compared to the larger minnows. Both pike and Walleye were active the last two hours of light. Bass/walleye minnows seemed to work better than the suckers for both pike and Walleye. We were five for eight, the Walleye came home and we released all the pike for another day. Tipup presentations were a half ounce sinker on the tip up line to a swivel followed by a short 12 pound fluorocarbon leader with size 6 wide gap treble hooks with a small minnow no longer than 4 inches. The walleye were completely full of small bluegill, bass, perch and other assorted bait fish. All of those were no longer than 2 to 3 inches as well which is probably why we did so
well. Tight lines!
