Marquette Area Fishing Report

January 25th, 2024

1-23-24 Marquette County
Upper Peninsula Inland Report- 5-10 inches of Ice on most bodies of water in the central U.P.
The best preforming lakes have been the ones off of the beaten path.
Slush and Snow have slowed traffic on most lakes and frequent reports of Snowmobiles and Atvs falling through are common. Good Practice is to throughly check conditions when exploring new water with a spud or drill before traveling by machine.
We have found success fishing weed edges or shallow drops
8-12 feet of water mid morning and through the day. In the evening hours we have found roaming schools of Crappie and Big Gills in basins or flats.
When targeting walleye we switched to fishing breaks and points setting tip ups on shallow ledges (8-14 feet) while we jig suspended panfish near by.

This winter has been warmer than any season on record for us in the U.P. Lake Superior ice fishing is looking to be delayed by a week or two, which means we have more availability for inland lake fishing for Panfish, Walleye, Trout, and Pike fishing.

Customizable tours
Trophy Fishing, Fill the Cooler, Back Country Adventure or Family Experience we cater to you.
