Marquette Area Fishing Report

January 31st, 2024

1-31-24 Marquette area
MQT Adventures and Guide Service: Ice Report.
Ice is inconsistent across all inland regions of the upper peninsula. Some bodies of water have 6-10 inches of slush on top where others have 6-8 inches of good Ice.
Even in the midst of the season. Early ice practices are recommended. Spud, safety equipment and team fishing.
-The Bite-
The best bite has been early morning for Walleye and Pike suspending shiners on flashy predator rigs off rock bluffs and points.

Jigging for Crappie and Bluegill in dark stained water we have been using larger presentations.
Jointed pin head pro in Wonderbread and Pink Wonderbread has consistently tricked even the most stubborn crappie. The ratlin pt spoon has put some of our biggest gills on the ice.
With warmer temps we have seen some very active schools that are willing to eat at all times of the day.  If you’re not finding fish after a few minutes or on the first drop, move on.

With Multiple Guides we have availability this weekend and through the end of March.
