2-6-24 Lake Gogebic
With the warmer weather and minimum snow cover and with thinner than usual ice, we’ve been sliding to shallower parts of the mud flat and have had a lot of success finding roaming perch. They seem to be “schooling” more than usual; traditionally they’ll be in small pods of 2-3 fish but we are seeing them in groups of 6-10 fish lately. Jigging has been producing fish as well as running deadsticks. A variety of baits has been productive with small minnows, and or bugs when you can get them. I don’t think we will lose our “safe ice” as our nights have still been cold. Colder weather is ahead, and the fishing should remain very good.
